Imo 2015: It’s our turn, Okigwe insists

Okigwe Senatorial District of Imo State has restated its claim to the governorship of the state in 2015. In a communique issued at the end of its meeting at the National Stadium, Lagos,  the Okigwe Peoples Development Association (OKDA), the umbrella body of Okigwe sons and daughters, insisted that the zone must produce the next governor of the state to complete its two-term tenure, as reportedly enshrined in the Imo charter of equity.
Spokesperson of the group, Mr Chukwudi Azubuike, lamented that Governor Rochas Okorocha’s emergence scuttled the agreement that the governorship should rotate among the three senatorial zones of the state.
“Therefore, Okigwe zone must be allowed to produce the next governor of Imo State to complete its abridged eight-year tenure. Anything short of this is unfair, unjust, inequitable and unacceptable.”
A daughter of Okigwe Zone, Ifeyinwa Maureen Okafor, who attended the meeting indicated her intention to run for the Imo governorship in 2015.
The British-trained chartered accountant and fellow of many professional organisations, received a rousing ovation, as she reeled out her programmes for the uplifting of Imo State if given the opportunity to lead.
Meanwhile, the Association of Ehime Mbano Indigenes in Lagos has thrown its weight behind the candidature of Okafor.
Re-echoing OKDA’s stance on Okigwe’s claim to Imo governorship in 2015, at the end of the  association’s monthly meeting in Surulere, Lagos, chairman of the association, Simeon Chikezie, lauded her aspiration, promising that as a worthy daughter of Ehime Mbano.
, a part of Okigwe Zone, no effort would be spared in giving her maximum support
