Gov. Amaechi arrested, detained by soldiers in Ondo – Rivers Govt

The Rivers State Government has issued a statement saying the state
Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has been arrested and detained by security
operatives in Odudu, Ondo state.
Governor Amaechi had arrived Ondo state en-route Ado-Ekiti where he was to
join his fellow APC Governor, Kayode Fayemi for the last lap of his
re-election campaign today in when he was refused entry into the state. He
decided to turn back to Ondo state to go board the private jet that brought

Ekiti guber elections: APC Governors allegedly barred from landing private planes in Akure

The APC is claiming that some of their governors have been barred from
landing their private planes in Akure ahead of the June 21st governorship
election in Ekiti state. The leadership of the opposition party said while
APC Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, managed to land his plane, Governors Rabiu
Kwankwaso and Adams Oshiomhole weren't so lucky as their planes were denied
the rights to land at the Akure Airport.
Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who also managed to avoid the airport security,
was allegedly stopped by soldiers from proceeding to Ekiti by road.

According to Thisday Newspapers, a middle-aged woman, Mrs. Monica Nwakpuke
has been allegedly set ablaze by her husband for giving birth to only
female children.
Her husband, Paul Nwakpuke who is a patent medicine dealer, allegedly hired
some assassins to kill his wife because she could not give him a male
child. The three assailants laid ambush for Monica outside her father's
home, a few nights ago and when she eventually came out, they descended on

Coup d’ etat rumours unfounded – CDS

The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, has refuted
rumors of a possible coup d' etat by the military, stating that the rumour
was unfounded.
ACM Badeh stated this on Tuesday June 18th while receiving the Director
General of the National Orientation Agency , Dr Mike Omeiri in his office.
He said the Military would always work to protect the democracy of Nigeria
and not destroy it.

Who watched the Cameroon vs Croatia match last night? The Cameroonians, who
lost 4-0 to Croatia were so frustrated they turned against each
other...lol. In the 90th minute of the match, Cameroon defender, Benoit
Assou-Ekotto headbutted teammate Benjamin Moukandjo after exchanging a few
words with him. Another teammate Pierre Webo had to break the pair up as it
seemed they were ready to forget the football they came to Brazil to play
